Can California meet its electric car charger goals?
2023
California had 105,000 public chargers and added only 17,000 new ones last year.
2030 target
The state would need to add 129,000 chargers annually...
2035 target
...and an additional 221,000 annually to reach its 2035 goal.
Note: Chargers are counted by the number of ports available to charge a vehicle, rather than the number of stations. The displayed figures of public chargers include shared private electric vehicle chargers, typically found at shared parking spaces such as workplaces and multi-family residences. Shared private charger counts come from voluntary surveys issued by the CEC, which does not count all shared private chargers in California.
